The Ming 57.04 Phoenix: A Destro Monopusher Chronograph with a Twist
The Ming Watch Brand: A Journey of Innovation and Evolution
Since its debut in 2017, the Horologer Ming brand has been making waves in the watchmaking world with its bold designs and innovative spirit. With over 75 references in its impressive catalogue, the brand has consistently evolved, pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking.
The Ming 57.04 Iris: A Polarizing Beauty
The Ming 57.04 Iris, introduced in 2025, was a watch that divided opinions. Its design and proportions were a bold statement, and its flamboyant peacock-like dial, shifting from turquoise to purple, green, or orange depending on the light, was a true spectacle. But, for some, it was too much.
The Ming 57.04 Phoenix: A More Subdued Approach
Now, the brand returns with the Ming 57.04 Phoenix, a more restrained version of the original. As Ming explains, the watch maintains a tonal structure, remaining mostly monochromatic while still being three-dimensional and graphic. The dial is now a classic sunray-brushed anthracite grey, but the baseplate still features the same color-shifting multiphasic coating as the Iris, creating a negative relief and tons of depth.
Technical Specifications: A Work of Art
The technical base remains identical to the Iris, with a bold destro monopusher chronograph concept and a case featuring dramatic lugs. Measuring 40mm in diameter, 11.85mm in thickness, and 47.8mm lug-to-lug, the case is characterized by its sculptural multi-piece stepped lugs, a modern tribute to Art Deco. No fewer than 9 separate pieces are required for the lugs alone.
A Unique Movement: Sellita for MING Calibre SW562.M1
Inside the case is the uniquely configured Sellita for MING Calibre SW562.M1, a variation of the SW500 based on the architecture of the Valjoux 7750. Functions include hours, minutes, central chronograph seconds, and a 30-minute counter at 6 o'clock, with a clean, no-date layout. The movement beats at 28,800 vibrations/hour and offers a 60-hour power reserve when fully wound.
