I-25 Closure Alert: Albuquerque Drivers, Plan Your Route Now! (Jan 27-28) (2026)

Attention Albuquerque drivers! Be prepared for significant disruptions on Interstate 25. Starting tonight, January 27, 2026, and continuing through Wednesday night, the road will be completely closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for essential construction work. This closure is necessary to widen the freeway and construct a new bridge over Montgomery Boulevard. During this time, traffic will be redirected onto the Frontage Roads, with detours in place on both sides of Montgomery Boulevard between Culture Drive and the Northbound Frontage Road. The New Mexico DOT is installing 12 massive beams, weighing up to 83 tons each and spanning 168 feet, requiring the interstate closure to ensure safety. This is the second bridge being built in the area, and the DOT emphasizes the importance of following detours to avoid potential hazards. Stay tuned for further updates, and remember to download the Action 7 News app for real-time traffic alerts.
