Starting tonight, January 27, 2026, and continuing through Wednesday night, the road will be completely closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for essential construction work. This closure is necessary to widen the freeway and construct a new bridge over Montgomery Boulevard. During this time, traffic will be redirected onto the Frontage Roads, with detours in place on both sides of Montgomery Boulevard between Culture Drive and the Northbound Frontage Road. The New Mexico DOT is installing 12 massive beams, weighing up to 83 tons each and spanning 168 feet, requiring the interstate closure to ensure safety.
