A devastating fire at a well-known nightclub in Goa has claimed at least 23 lives, including several visitors from abroad, authorities confirmed. The blaze erupted around midnight at a club in Arpora, located in North Goa, according to the Press Trust of India.
Goa’s chief minister, Pramod Sawant, described the day as painfully tragic for the state. In a post on X, he stated that an inquiry has been ordered and pledged that those responsible will face the full force of the law, with any negligence met with stringent penalties. At the site, Sawant told reporters that three to four tourists were among the deceased; the majority of deaths were due to suffocation, with three individuals succumbing to burn injuries.
